CHROs Take First Step in Journey to Board Directorship

Over 20 Chief Human Resource Officers (CHROs) joined us at the Journey to Board Directorship session on 11 Nov 2022, where they were joined by esteemed Board Directors who shared about their personal journeys towards landing a seat in the boardroom. Held behind closed doors under the Chatham House Rule, the Board Directors gave insightful advice at the roundtable discussions, to help CHROs aspiring to be in their position take the first step.

Our deepest appreciation goes to our keynote speaker, Philip Forrest AM, Independent Director and Chair of the Audit Committee, 8VI Holdings Limited and Council Member, Singapore Institute of Directors, who returned once again to shed light on the roles of responsibilities of the board.

Not forgetting the Board Directors who willingly placed themselves in the hotseat to answer the CHROs’ burning questions:

  • Carmen Wee, Board Member, Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (UK)

  • Seah Chin Siong, Board Chairman, National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre and CEO & President, Singapore Institute of Management

  • Karen Loon, Non-Executive Director & Audit Committee Chair, Bank Pictet & Cie (Asia) Ltd

  • Lily Low, Non-Executive Director, Standard Chartered Bank Singapore

  • Guna Chellappan, Board Member, Sentosa Development Corporation and General Manager, Singapore, Red Hat Asia Pacific

  • Junie Foo, Chief Executive Officer, Methodist Welfare Services, and President, Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations

We would also like to thank our Patrons – Microsoft and Visier – for championing the personal careers of our attending CHROs and for sponsoring this session. And OneGoodTeam for the sustainable smart business cards that facilitated easy networking amongst the attendees!

A CHRO’s Journey to Board Directorship Handbook will be ready soon. If you’d like a copy or would like to join us for the next Journey to Board Directorship session, drop us an email at info@qed.sg indicating your name, organisation and designation!
