On 6 Nov 2020, 65 senior executives from both public and private organisations gathered virtually for the 6th edition of the QED Changemaker Series to discuss the topic of “Business Innovation – Future-proofing Businesses”. In this edition of the virtual closed door and by-invite only event, the industry leaders were given 4 plausible scenarios to think about, and how business innovation can be used to navigate them:
The Greatest Recession Yet
Disruption – The Age Of Pandemics
The Acceleration Of Slowbalisation
Bifurcation – The Great Divide
The consensus was that business innovation is extremely important in future-proofing businesses and organisations. While Business as Usual remains as the main priority for many leaders in the current circumstances, business leaders are increasing their emphasis on Innovation as part of plans for the future.
In this second edition of our fully-online QED Changemaker Series, the leaders once again enjoyed virtual breakout sessions where they got to share personal vantage points and hear from peers on the topic. Prior to the event, they also attended a virtual networking session and listened to insights from 6 distinguished panel speakers on the QED Changemaker Series Podcast.
Some of the leaders also had the opportunity to experience innovation first-hand during a tour hosted by the Singapore University of Technology and Design after the event. They learnt about 3D food printing and even saw examples of 3D printing works, including a functioning hammer made of paper!
Here are some great insights we gathered from the round-table discussions on the four scenarios:
