SkillsFuture Fellowship Awards 2018
Ryan Lim, Principal Consultant and Founding Partner of QED Consulting, has been awarded the prestigious annual SkillsFuture Fellowship Award, the highest skills award in Singapore, presented by the President of the Republic of Singapore, Mdm Halimah Yacob, on 31 July 2018.
This annual award recognises the commitment of exceptional individuals for helping shape Singapore’s future, by being masters of their craft and advocates of lifelong learning. Ryan was one of only 29 this year to receive this exclusive accolade.
Over the course of his career, Ryan has contributed to the education of over 3,000 individuals from pre-tertiary students and working professionals, to even members of the general public. In an effort to share his knowledge of digital and social media marketing more widely, Ryan, alongside his partners and senior consultants at QED Consulting, co-designed and developed Republic Polytechnic’s Specialist Diploma in Communication Strategies for Social Media in 2016, ASEAN’s first specialist diploma in social media marketing strategies. He has also conducted career briefings to encourage working adults to equip themselves with future-relevant skills offered by the course, resulting in a 150% oversubscription.
To this day, Ryan actively conducts industry briefings and continuous professional development sessions with organisations such as the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), Infocomm & Media Development Authority (IMDA), The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS), and the Singapore Pools.
In the coming months, Ryan plans to conduct more public seminars to facilitate career guidance for those interested in digital marketing careers. He hopes to help attendees gain insights and a better understanding of the skills they need and the training options available to assist them to cross over to this industry, so that they can be valuable digital, marketing and communications professionals.
Ryan dedicates his award to his father who has lived out the attributes of a lifelong learner and modelled it for Ryan as he grew up.
“My hero is my father. He inspired me to embrace lifelong learning, and to help others with the skills I acquired. He showed me that anyone can invest in themselves to become more valuable.”
